sweat equity as the donations continue to rise

This past weekend Ruben, Heather, Ed, and I all completed our sweat equity hours in Keansburg, NJ with our local Habitat for Humanity branch. We spent the day putting down a coat of primer on the second story of the house. Somehow we ended up wearing most of the paint =/

My bike will be as good as ordered some time this week. I just ran into some sizing issues that need be settled ASAP so I can finally start training on the bike I will take with me across the country. As soon as it arrives I will have some pictures.

Finally, I want to thank another large group of sponsors: Ziggy, Hammer, WMCX, Leslie, Jerri, Alyx, Chris, Pam, and Dan. I would also like to thank Applebee's for holding the Dine to Donate, as well as my family, Heather's sister Amanda and her friends, Michelle, and everyone else who came out to dine on the night of the event. Thank you so much for your generous donations. I'm currently at $1255 (not including the Dine to Donate money), but I can say with confidence that it is rising steadily as the days pass.

Thank you again to everyone who has contributed thus far!

Yea Baby ;)

Yay! $1,025 as of today and time to FINALLY get my bike! No more kiddie mountain bike!

Thank you to: Corry, Justin, Quinn, LC, Frankie, Chad, Matt, Johnny D, Donna, Laura, Jenna, & all those who attended the Underwear Party. You have helped me achieve my $1,000 mark and that means I get my bike!

Don't forget, Applebee's Dine to Donate is Monday, March 23rd from 5-8 PM. Let me know if you need a flyer.

Good luck to all my fellow bikers and thank you all! =)

Thank You!

Thank you to all of those who came out to the "Underwear Party"! We successfully raised $344 to be split between me and Ed =) Who would have thought that taking off people's clothes would be an effective way to raise money?! haha

I also want to thank everyone who has donated to the "Shave or Save" fundraiser. So far my head is safe, but I look forward to more donations in this on-going event!

There are still several fundraising events planned in the near future. The most recent is on Monday, March 23rd. Applebee's in Tinton Falls will be holding a "Dine to Donate," where 10% of everyone's check will be donated to Bike & Build. You do need a flyer, so let me know if you can make it.

Ruben, Ed, Heather, and I are also setting up a "Dine to Donate" at Surf Taco. Same idea with the fliers and the 10%.

I'm very excited to continue fundraising and start doing some volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity.

Once again, thank you so much to everyone who has contributed so far! My total as of today is $800!

Doing big things!

I have accomplished so much today. I just finished typing my fundraising letter and sent it out to everyone in the Monmouth Bike & Build Facebook group! I'm talking like 300 people. So, there is a good chance that at least some of these wonderful friends of mine will help me on my way. My next step is to mail out all my other letters once I can get myself to a working printer! This will include my family, friends, past teachers, old bosses, etc. Anyone I have ever known pretty much =)

I have also took some time to take the Bike & Build Safety Quiz, which has brought me one step closer to receiving my bike. So everyone reading this, I need $400 more dollars to order it. By the way, this is the bike:

I'm still in the works with some fundraising ideas with Ruben, Heather, and Ed.  We have thought about having a fundraising party, maybe a pong tournament, and supposedly some head shaving extravaganza (which makes me a little nervous =/ haha). Let me know if you have any other ideas!

It's time to get the wheels a rollin'

First off, I would like to thank those who have donated to Bike & Build so far. I really appreciate your support. Thank you for bringing me one step closer toward my goal this summer.

Winter has been real tough. It's been hard to motivate myself to get out and exercise in these sub zero weather conditions. It's also been real hard making sure I not only receive the required donation of $4,000, but that I have enough money to pay my bills while away on this biking adventure. Arrrr money is the source of all evil! Regardless, I am 100% committed to Bike & Build and I will find a way to get to South Carolina come May!

So please help support a great cause and send my a$$ cross-country this summer!
